Collector of time and twine camping in the pantry
\nflashlight in an underwater cavern walls all look
\nalike. What you hear above the clatter:
\nwhat can\u2019t exist can\u2019t make demands.<\/p>\n
Once these places were one place. Engines
\ncarried us to knowable destinations. Corners
\nstand now on toes. Jobbers glide past our lips.<\/p>\n
Let chance decide. Let rivers flood
\nthe neighborhoods. Let floor lamps
\npretend to be bonfires. Mats and napkins
\nbeckon; gestures on the glass.<\/p>\n
Master of time and isotopes. Half this life
\nis half enough. Brother under skin healing
\nin the dispensary. Neutrinos in the nursery.<\/p>\n
Sutures over eyebrows. Sweet sleep
\non fresh sheets. Sweat on the face.
\nBlood in the stool. Clusters of cells
\ndeforming midnight to dawn
\nHair grows on the mask.<\/p>\n
Once this was all one place. Motors carried us
\nwe didn\u2019t care where. Feathers filled our pillows
\npheasants basted in wine pretended to embrace
\nthe fate of many slathered in the same sauce.<\/p>\n
