{"id":816,"date":"2012-08-27T18:55:00","date_gmt":"2012-08-28T02:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=816"},"modified":"2012-08-27T18:55:00","modified_gmt":"2012-08-28T02:55:00","slug":"jacob-uitti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=816","title":{"rendered":"Jacob Uitti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sarah<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I saw a bird in the grass<br \/>\nsmall and brown<br \/>\nits round body partially hidden in the long blades<\/p>\n<p>around its throat was a ring of purple dried blood<br \/>\nand its yellow beak was open and a black tongue<br \/>\nhung out<\/p>\n<p>one of its wings was broken and all the brown feathers had been torn off<br \/>\nthe other wing was folded closely to its body<\/p>\n<p>the feet were untouched<\/p>\n<p>it was in the middle of the front yard, which was very small, about the size of a<br \/>\nVolkswagen with just the grass, and a single dogwood<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to name her Sarah after an ex-girlfriend I\u2019d<br \/>\nhad\u2014<\/p>\n<p>and so I picked up Sarah and wrapped her in the newspaper<br \/>\nand put her under the tree in the corner where no one would see her.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sixquestionsfor.blogspot.com\/2012\/03\/six-questions-for-jacob-uitti-managing.html\">Jacob Uitti <\/a>was born and raised in Princeton, NJ, and moved to Seattle in 2007. Since, he has co-founded the Seattle-based literary and arts journal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.themonarchreview.org\/\">The Monarch Review.<\/a> He is also a co-founding member of the bands <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theglassnotes.com\/THE_GLASS_NOTES\/The_Glass_Notes,_Seattle_Wa.html\">The Glass Notes<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thegreatum.com\/THE_GREAT_UM\/TGU.html\">The Great Um.<\/a> He has half a fake Master\u2019s Degree from The University of Washington due to the number of classes he\u2019s audited. Jacob also works tending bar and co-managing the PopUp restaurant Mo\u2019Fun.
