Potential Energy<\/p>\n

is energy stored within a system.
\nMore specifically, energy of position.
\nHe is on his knees,
\nshe is on her back.
\nThere is potential. There is energy.
\nLike all things, mass plays a role.
\nAs does his height above her
\nand the gravitational acceleration
\nwith which the events occur.
\nShe is left with bruises
\nof force and potential.
\nIf he calls tomorrow it is only one
\npossible outcome.
\nAnother is that he marries her friend
\nor takes his dog to the park.
\nAn object may have potential energy
\nas the result of many variables:
\ngravity, electricity, magnetic pull, or elasticity.
\nAll of these are useful when converting
\npotential energy to kinetic.
\nHer elasticity impresses him;
\nhe calls tomorrow.
\nThe outcome is measured in jewels.<\/p>\n
