{"id":467,"date":"2012-05-25T14:41:14","date_gmt":"2012-05-25T22:41:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=467"},"modified":"2012-05-25T14:41:14","modified_gmt":"2012-05-25T22:41:14","slug":"student-poem-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=467","title":{"rendered":"Student Poem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Little Magics<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They loved pie, and the small<br \/>\nchew toy in the yard.<br \/>\n         They loved the pat<br \/>\nand the emotional tug of a friend,<br \/>\nthey loved run on sentences.<br \/>\nThey loved the higgeldy piggeldy topsy-turvy<br \/>\nup and down over and out sound.<br \/>\nThey looked at the glass<br \/>\npurred and ate.<br \/>\n         They popcorned, gnawed, and<br \/>\nsqueaked, and they loved it.<br \/>\n         They hid, then scratched.<br \/>\n         They hated that.<br \/>\n         They loved helicopters<br \/>\nand screaming for no reason.<br \/>\n         They loved skipping<br \/>\nthe middle and going to the end.<br \/>\n         They loved mixing and<br \/>\nnot matching.<br \/>\n         They enjoyed poems<br \/>\n         They loved words<br \/>\n         They loved and loved<br \/>\nevery sound and feel of all the<br \/>\nlittle magics<br \/>\nThey loved song<br \/>\nThey smiled at Alexander<br \/>\nthe Great, and they understood<br \/>\nevery second.<br \/>\n        They loved chicken<br \/>\nsoup.<br \/>\n         They loved me.<br \/>\nThey loved random hum<br \/>\nlike messy classrooms<br \/>\nand they loved sayings<br \/>\n         and not endings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Cameron was a fifth grader at View Ridge Elementary when he wrote &#8220;Little Magics.&#8221; \u00a0He worked with me through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lectures.org\/wits\/writers_n_schools.php\">Writers in the Schools<\/a> program in Seattle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Little Magics &nbsp; They loved pie, and the small chew toy in the yard.
