\nand sit on the overpass
\nto watch the dragon faces
\nthe cars would make at us
\nas they raced
\nbeneath our dangling legs.
\nCars like it when you\u2019re high enough
\nabove them to notice
\nmore than their surfaces.
\nIt\u2019s the story of their exhaust
\nthey want you to care about,
\nnot their paint jobs
\nor the treads
\non their tires. They want you to lean down
\nand touch them.
\nI know what you\u2019re thinking.
\nIt\u2019s dangerous,
\nwhat we used to do. But
\nthe cars told us they\u2019d catch us if we fell.
\nYou say, So what if they did?<\/em>
\nAnd you\u2019re right.
\nThere\u2019s always a catch.<\/p>\n
