McDade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Real Peace<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Real peace means no war, of course.<br \/>\nBut real peace demands so much more<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>than no war.<br \/>\nThough no war is an excellent<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>beginning.<br \/>\nPeace requires no fear of war.<\/p>\n<p>The physical body must be safe.<br \/>\nThere is more than adequate food,<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>shelter, attire.<br \/>\nAnd there is no worry that any one\u2014not<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>to mention all three\u2014will disappear.<br \/>\nThis physical body gets preventive<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>medical and dental care and<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>treatment when needed.<br \/>\nAnd there is no worry that benefits will<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>be reduced or exhausted nor service<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>denied.<\/p>\n<p>The mental body must be at least equally<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>safe; some might argue safer.<br \/>\nPeace provides space for education,<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>a good, solid education full of<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>knowledgeable teachers who<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>recognize the humanity of all and do<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>not see differences as inferiority.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>Questioning without fear of<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>repercussion is ever the case.<\/p>\n<p>Peace also allows spiritual development<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>of any and every variety.<br \/>\nAgain there is no fear.<\/p>\n<p>The stress created by the lack of any one<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>of the above can shatter peace,<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>shatter peace overtly or maybe simply<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>covertly, but shatter peace nevertheless.<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>And all of us are not always like the<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>oyster; the stress does not always<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>result in our creating pearls though<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>this stress may indeed make us shells<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>of ourselves.<br \/>\nFinally, real peace allows us to pursue<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>happiness as we see fit when that<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>pursuit harms no one.<br \/>\nAnd opportunity and justice permeate<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>this paradise.<\/p>\n<p>The ever-present governor without<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>exception recognizes that no pursuit<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>of the ultimate personhood and real<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>peace diminishes another or the<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">&#8230;&#8230;..<\/span>other.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This poem was written for the Abe Keller Peace Fund, 11\/22\/12. <em>\u201cThe Abe Keller Peace Education Fund was organized in 1998 to address peace-education needs in the Puget Sound community through fund-raising and grant-making for worthy peace-education activities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Georgia S.
