{"id":2265,"date":"2013-12-08T21:31:14","date_gmt":"2013-12-09T05:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=2265"},"modified":"2013-12-08T21:31:14","modified_gmt":"2013-12-09T05:31:14","slug":"kristen-spexarth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=2265","title":{"rendered":"Kristen Spexarth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fisherman\u2019s Terminal<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A memorial sits<br \/>\nnext to my favorite breakfast haunt.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s on a pier where rock songs blare<br \/>\nfrom a nearby speaker out to working boats,<br \/>\nmoored, and waiting for the season.<br \/>\nSeagulls are soaring, circling,<br \/>\nsearching for food bits and fish guts,<br \/>\ntheir cries, like homing pigeons<br \/>\nflying straight to my heart.<br \/>\nI have never been a sailor<br \/>\nbut I come here and<br \/>\nfingers following,<br \/>\ntouch the fish forever circling,<br \/>\ncaught in cast bronze,<br \/>\nand stand, a shadow,<br \/>\nin front of names I never knew<br \/>\nand still they touch me.<br \/>\nHopping sparrow, hoping for crumbs,<br \/>\nflies off in a hurry finding none.<br \/>\nCanadian geese, majestic, long-necked cruisers<br \/>\non green effluent<br \/>\nreach out and gingerly nibble insects and eel grass.<br \/>\nAcross the ship canal they\u2019ll be scrapping for french fries<br \/>\nbut here they float, regal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.passingreflections.com\/PassingReflections\/About_Kristen.html\">Kristen Spexarth<\/a> lives in Seattle and <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.kuow.org\/program.php?id=23273\">writes about love, loss and the world around<\/a> as seen through the eyes of a gardener.
