I Didn’t Go Camping
\nA Funny Summer Poem for Kids<\/em><\/p>\n

I didn’t go camping.
\nI didn’t go hiking.
\nI didn’t go fishing.
\nI didn’t go biking.<\/p>\n

I didn’t go play
\non the slides at the park.
\nI didn’t watch shooting stars
\nway after dark.<\/p>\n

I didn’t play baseball
\nor soccer outside.
\nI didn’t go on an
\namusement park ride.<\/p>\n

I didn’t throw Frisbees.
\nI didn’t fly kites,
\nor have any travels,
\nor see any sights.<\/p>\n

I didn’t watch movies
\nwith blockbuster crowds,
\nor lay on the front lawn
\nand look at the clouds.<\/p>\n

I didn’t go swimming
\nat pools or beaches,
\nor visit an orchard
\nand pick a few peaches.<\/p>\n

I didn’t become
\na guitarist or drummer,
\nbut, boy, I played plenty
\nof Minecraft this summer.<\/p>\n

Kenn Nesbitt<\/a> was named the Children’s\u00a0Poet Laureate<\/a>\u00a0by the\u00a0Poetry Foundation in 2013. \u00a0He is the author of numerous books of poetry for children, including\u00a0The Armpit of Doom: Funny Poems for Kids\u00a0<\/em>(2013),\u00a0<\/a>The Ultimate Top Secret Guide to Taking Over the World\u00a0<\/em>(2011),\u00a0<\/a>The Tighty-Whitey Spider<\/em>(2010),\u00a0<\/a>Revenge of the Lunch Ladies\u00a0<\/em>(2007),\u00a0<\/a>Santa Got Stuck in the Chimney\u00a0<\/em>(2006),<\/a>\u00a0When the Teacher Isn\u2019t Looking: And Other Funny School Poems<\/em>\u00a0(2005),<\/a> and\u00a0The Aliens Have Landed at Our School!<\/em>\u00a0(2001),<\/a> among others. In addition to writing books, Nesbitt has also written lyrics for the group Eric Herman and the Invisible Band. His lyrics are included on the CDs\u00a0What a Ride\u00a0<\/em>(2007),\u00a0Snail\u2019s Pace<\/em>(2007)<\/em>,\u00a0Snow Day\u00a0<\/em>(2006)<\/em>,\u00a0Monkey Business<\/em>\u00a0(2005), and\u00a0The Kid in the Mirror<\/em>(2003).\u00a0Nesbitt\u2019s poems have appeared in hundreds of anthologies, magazines, and textbooks worldwide, and were included on the television show \u201cJack Hanna\u2019s Wildlife Adventures.\u201d Nesbitt is a member of the Society of Children\u2019s Book Writers and Illustrators.
