{"id":1765,"date":"2013-07-24T19:05:47","date_gmt":"2013-07-25T03:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=1765"},"modified":"2013-07-24T20:50:53","modified_gmt":"2013-07-25T04:50:53","slug":"ben-holiday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=1765","title":{"rendered":"Ben Holiday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I met Ben Holiday through the wonderful\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/theredbadgeproject.org\/\">Red Badge Project<\/a> at Joint Base Lewis McChord.\u00a0I&#8217;m happy to have the chance to post one of his poems.&#8211;KF<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Gray Man<\/p>\n<p>There are many colors that we are,<br \/>\nand many colors that weve seen.<br \/>\nThe most common of these colors,<br \/>\nare red, blue and green.<\/p>\n<p>Red is for the anger,<br \/>\nthe fury and all the rage<\/p>\n<p>Blue is for the lost ones,<br \/>\nand for the worst of our days.<\/p>\n<p>Green is for envy and jealousy<br \/>\nand like a tree it grows,<\/p>\n<p>But there is one color,<br \/>\nfew have ever seen,<br \/>\nor will ever know.<br \/>\nThe one color that is gray,<br \/>\nthe one that never shows.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst all the other colors he stays,<br \/>\nsilent like a ghost<br \/>\nfor its these other colors<br \/>\nthat keep him hidden<br \/>\nin this mist,<br \/>\nand fog<br \/>\nand smoke.<\/p>\n<p>The Gray Man is everywhere,<br \/>\neven though most dont know,<br \/>\nthis man that is invisible<br \/>\nwhose identitiy never shows<br \/>\nhe sits and waits patiently<br \/>\nfor what he knows will come to be.<br \/>\nThe actions and the tactics,<br \/>\nof all his foes and enemies<br \/>\nthat the oblivious<br \/>\nand the ignorant<br \/>\nand the blind just cant see.<\/p>\n<p>But dont think that The Gray Man<br \/>\nhasn&#8217;t seen any other colors in his life,<br \/>\nthats the reason he became gray<br \/>\nbecause thats the color that survives.<br \/>\nSurviving all of the trials,<br \/>\nall of his enemies schemes and plans<br \/>\nand this survival tactic<br \/>\nis called being The Gray Man.<\/p>\n<p>There are many colors that we are,<br \/>\nand many colors that weve seen.<br \/>\nMost other colors out there fight dirty,<br \/>\nbut they dont know<br \/>\nthat one color is aware<br \/>\nof the scam, and their whole plan,<br \/>\nthe one color that isnt &#8220;there&#8221;<br \/>\nthe one they call &#8230;&#8230;.<br \/>\nThe Gray Man<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His name is Ben Holiday, some call him Buzz. He is from Spokane Wa. He is ex military and always thinks twice about what he says&#8230;.The majority of the time he is quiet, he believes it&#8217;s far better to listen than it is to speak. He first started writing poetry while injured in an overseas hospital. He doesn&#8217;t speak about about what or who he is, instead he&#8217;ll use poetry&#8230;.Poetry is his only voice.
