{"id":1709,"date":"2013-06-30T09:53:54","date_gmt":"2013-06-30T17:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=1709"},"modified":"2013-06-30T09:53:54","modified_gmt":"2013-06-30T17:53:54","slug":"timothy-roos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=1709","title":{"rendered":"Timothy Roos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wolf Eel<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The fish line pulled heavily as a dog<br \/>\ndragging front paws first.<\/p>\n<p>A gray creature emerged,<br \/>\nwide head, bulging eyes.<br \/>\nIts long, freckled tail twirled,<br \/>\na risen flag over the depths<br \/>\nof prehistory.<\/p>\n<p>I worked it free of the foreign wind,<br \/>\nmy questions afloat beside me.<br \/>\nNeedle-tipped canines clicked<br \/>\nagainst my pliers.<\/p>\n<p>How odd then, returning to shore<br \/>\nempty handed, to feel myself<br \/>\nembraced, unbroken,<br \/>\nin the kingdom of the peculiar.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Wolf Eel&#8221; appeared in <em>Tidepools<\/em> and it won its first place poetry prize in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Roos grew up in western Washington, and has lived in central Washington, southern California, and on the Olympic Peninsula, where he and his wife raised two children. \u00a0He works as a special education teacher in Port Angeles, pursues wildlife photography and fishing, and travels the Western states. \u00a0His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravenchronicles.org\/onlinecontentindex171-2.html\"><em>The Raven Chronicles<\/em>,<\/a> <em>Pontoon<\/em>, <em>Poetry East<\/em>,<em> Soundings Review<\/em>, <em>Plainsongs<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/dandelionfarmwinterreview2013.wordpress.com\/timothy-roos\/\"><em>Dandelion Farm Review,<\/em><\/a> and <em>Tidepools<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wolf Eel &nbsp; The fish line pulled heavily as a dog dragging front paws first.
