Room<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve heard third-hand each stanza is a room.
\nIn June, yard too means room. In June, yard
\nmeans the room where I cure my innards,
\nwhere I stew them in liquor. The crevasse<\/p>\n
over the stream where the snow melts first
\nis a room and so is each tulip.
\nThe nurse log becoming the forest floor
\nis a room with the promise of future rooms.<\/p>\n
In bed with another, my hand seeks the knob
\nto the next room. The tattered couch makes
\nthe porch a messy room and, says the landlord,
\n\u201chas to go.\u201d For a second I thought<\/p>\n
my car a room, but it\u2019s just traffic.
\nAsthma is an owl in the room
\nof my lungs. A tenderloin sliced yea thick
\nis a room with walls of burnt skin.<\/p>\n
Each song is a room I leave blushing
\nwhen my singing\u2019s done. All these rooms.
\nAll the clouds drifting through their open doors.
\nNo wonder I am always outside.<\/p>\n
