{"id":131,"date":"2012-02-28T15:14:57","date_gmt":"2012-02-28T23:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=131"},"modified":"2012-02-28T15:16:58","modified_gmt":"2012-02-28T23:16:58","slug":"kelli-russell-agodon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/kathleenflenniken.com\/blog\/?p=131","title":{"rendered":"Kelli Russell Agodon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the 70\u2019s, I Confused <em>Macram\u00e9<\/em> and <em>Macabre<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I.<br \/>\nI wanted the macabre plant holder<br \/>\nhanging in Janet and Chrissy\u2019s apartment.<br \/>\nMy friend said her cousin tried to kill himself<br \/>\nby putting his head through the patterns<br \/>\nin his mother\u2019s spiderplant hanger, but<br \/>\nthe hook broke from the ceiling and he fell<br \/>\nknocking over their lava lamp, their 8-track player.<br \/>\nHis brother almost died a week later when<br \/>\nhe became tangled in the milfoil at Echo Lake.<br \/>\nI said it could have been a very<br \/>\nmacram\u00e9 summer for that family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">II.<br \/>\nWhen I looked outside for sticks to make a God\u2019s Eye<br \/>\nto hang on my bedroom wall, I found a mouse<br \/>\nflattened, its white spine stretching past its tail.<br \/>\nAnd a few feet from that,<br \/>\na dead bird with an open chest,<br \/>\nits veins wrapped tightly together.<br \/>\nThis neighborhood with its macram\u00e9 details<br \/>\ncrushed into the street.
